Edmund Hillary as we know him but his full name: Edmund Percival Hillary, Edmund became a Sir in 1953 Edmund, Tenzing and Norgay became the first people to get to the summit of Mt Everest. He was born in July the 20th 1919 but in 2008 he sadly died on the 11th of January at the age 88, but now we have a New Zealand legend in our hearts.
In 1960 Sir Edmund Hillary was involved in the Himalayan Trust and when he found it they touched many peoples lives and many remote schools in and around the Mountians , but guess what he founded it, but there is another one called Edmund Hillary Fellowship.
Have you ever done a blog of Sir Edmund Hillary?

Kia ora Josh, this is Kieryn from the Summer Learning Journey.
ReplyDeleteWell done for participating in the Summer Learning Journey and creating this blog post about scaling new heights!
Sir Edmund Hilary was such an amazing explorer, mountaineer and philanthropist, and in 1953 he became one of the first people to have officially climbed Mount Everest.
It is because of this that he is an inspiration to so many people in the world!
Have you ever climbed a mountain? If so, when?
I enjoy going for walks outside, and often find myself on the mountains in the area. They definitely are not as big as Mount Everest, and I don’t walk as far as Sir Edmund Hilary had to, but I still feel like I have accomplished something after I’ve had a trek along the mountain side.
It is awesome to see the charity you have included is the Himalayan Trust. I never knew that Sir Edmund Hilary founded this trust, or that it was created to help the people in Nepal, so thank you for sharing this new information.
Keep up the great work!
