Neil Armstrong

Neil was the first person on the moon with his team of astronauts back in 1969 on the Apollo 11, but he was an american. When he hopped of he said ¨One step for me, and One leap for mankind.¨
He got accepted into NASA when he was 16 and made history on the moon, but he died because of Complications on his Heart Surgery and when he had the Surgery he was 82 and then pasted away.

Have you learned about Neil Armstrong in your school before?

  1. Kia ora Josh, this is Kieryn from the Summer Learning Journey.
Well done for participating in the Summer Learning Journey and creating this blog post about Neil Armstrong.
I never knew that Neil was accepted into NASA at the age of sixteen, or that he died from heart surgery complications, so thank you for sharing this new information!
Did you know that his original goal in life was to become a pilot, and that by the age of fifteen he actually got his pilot license?
It is crazy to think how much Neil Armstrong had already accomplished in life by the age of sixteen!
Do you have any goals that you want to achieve by the time you turn sixteen? If so, what are they?
You mentioned how Neil was the first person to step on the moon back in 1969. It has been fifty years since this occurred, and in that space of time only eleven other people have had the opportunity to walk on the moon.
If you got the opportunity, would you do it?
I have always wondered what it would be like to walk on the moon with no gravity.
I imagine that it would be the same feeling you get when you walk through water. It would feel light, yet heavy at the same time, and it would seem as though you could just float away, yet you would still be weighed down.
What do you think it would be like?
    Nga mihi
